What it does
QBR prep is two weeks of someone copy-pasting numbers into slides — and the citations always disappear. This recipe pulls every pipeline, revenue, usage, and finance number from source, writes the doc with citations linked back to the underlying record, and ships it to the reviewer list ready for read-through.
How it works
- Lock the snapshot. The colleague captures a cutoff timestamp so the QBR doesn’t shift while reviewers are reading.
- Pull pipeline + revenue. Closed-won, closed-lost, win rate, ACV, sales cycle — all computed for the closing quarter and the prior 4.
- Layer in usage + finance. Product events, account health, finance ledger summary, NPS distribution.
- Compose with citations. Every claim in the doc links back to the underlying record (deal, account, ledger entry). Chart specs are embedded for each metric.
- Send for review. Reviewers are tagged in Notion, notified, and a Q&A comment thread opens per section.
Setup
- Connect a CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce, or Pipedrive).
- Connect a docs surface (Notion, Google Docs, or Coda).
- Connect finance (Stripe, QuickBooks) for revenue + margin numbers.
- Define the QBR template — sections, audience, reviewer list.
Variations
- Run a per-segment QBR (enterprise, mid-market, SMB) so leadership reads them split.
- Auto-populate slides instead of (or in addition to) the doc — Google Slides / Pitch.
- Add a year-end rollup that diffs all four QBRs into an annual narrative.
