What it does

Most “market trend” reports are written by a person who skimmed Twitter for an hour. This recipe ingests tracked subreddits, niche newsletters, podcast transcripts, and forum threads — then runs a clustering pass to find what’s actually accelerating in your niche, with quotes and source links.

How it works

  1. Collect daily. The colleague reads tracked sources — subreddits, newsletters, podcast transcripts, forums — and stores anything above the engagement floor.
  2. Cluster topics. On Friday afternoons, posts are embedded and clustered into stable topic groupings. Each topic gets a week-over-week growth + volume score.
  3. Compose the digest. Top 8 topics land in a Notion doc with representative quotes, source links, and a “what this means” sentence per topic.
  4. Drop in channels. A summary posts in #research and #leadership-feed; the relevant PMM or PM lead is tagged on topics in their area.

Setup

  • Maintain a sources list in Notion (subreddits, newsletter URLs, podcast feeds, forums).
  • Connect a messaging channel (Slack or Teams).
  • Set the engagement floor — posts below this volume are ignored.

Variations

  • Add a fast-lane that surfaces any topic crossing 3× normal volume in a single day.
  • Track a competitor list as a separate dimension — topic + which competitors are showing up.
  • Generate a quarterly trend rollup that compares all weekly digests for a strategic narrative.
